Proctor-Silex 10-Cup Coffee Maker (48351)

A good cup of coffee from a cheap coffee maker. It is very inexpensive but it makes the perfect cup of coffee. It is easy to brew with the Proctor Silex 10 cup coffee maker. It’s simple to use with great results. The Silex brands are known for durability and reliability and this 10-cup coffee maker is one of them.

It is a nice compact coffee machine and makes good coffee but there is no bells and whistles. It is a simple basic unit for the 10-cup coffee maker and there is no automatic shut off.  As the price reflects, it is made of plastic. There is a removable plastic basket and the carafe is glass.

But the price is so reasonable that anyone can offer and a great value.

Product Features

  • Auto pause & serve
  • Illuminated on/off switch
  • Dishwasher safe basket
  • Dishwasher safe carafe
  • Easy to use

Proctor-Silex or Amazon Basics Could be an Amazon Basics product for lack of any other way to describe it. I works well and is a nice size. There is no water level indicator on the outside. This doesn’t affect it’s “basic” functions but anything less than full is a guess without first measuring in the pot or other container. (There is a raised area on the inside of the water reservoir indicating the full level.)The pot warmer works well and keeps the coffee at a nice temperature, (about 180°F or 82 °C).

Good product, but subject to manufacturing defects. UPDATE (July 2016): Yet another defect has revealed itself. The tube that carries the heated water up to the brewing receptacle has started popping out of its lower socket about once a week. It’s a pain to sort out after it happens. So yet another Proctor-Silex heads for the recycle bin! At this point I cannot recommend that anyone buy one of these coffeemakers, and I’m changing my recommendation from 4 stars to ONE.

Strongly recommend spending and extra $5-20 on a better machine, lack of automatic shut off makes this a messy headache Overall, this is a solid coffee-maker with a few drawback and one really fatal flaw.
